In Forum: About You, Me and Everything Inbetween

So, might as well give you guys an update as to why I left, life in between, why i'm back etc. Something to read at least.
A fair while ago I left BetaArchive in a bit of a huff. I was over what the community had become and the dwindling content and leaks was leaving me a bit over playing the waiting game. So I deleted BA from my RSS and my favorites and moved on. Life from then on (obviously not related, just coincidental timing) took a rather steep dive towards "The Worst". I was stuck in a crummy flat with a crummy landlady that was draining my funds at a ridiculous rate. My partner and the landlady absolutely loathed each other which caused a lot of friction and fighting that I became the arbitrator of. This went on and on until a friend one day mentioned they had a room they would be willing to spare for myself and my partner. I accepted, gave my notice to the landlady and promptly moved out of my flat in a weekend. Anything that was too big to fit in my car was left behind.
At the same time, my health was quickly deteriorating. I was struck with constant vertigo and nausea which rendered me unable to work or even move for days at a time. Dozens of doctor's visits yielded very little results and a lot of worrying thoughts such as "Brain Tumor" "Multiple Sclerosis" "Stroke" etc etc. Test after test after test came back "Negative" and eventually my doctor threw up his hands and said "I don't know, go see a Neurologist". The closest Neurologist was 400kms away but my parents happily drove me to him. Upon entering the room he took a bit of a look at me and asked a few questions about my current and previous residence. Barely halfway into answering his questions he said "Its a long term viral infection brought on by toxic mold in your old flat. Nothing you can do but ride it out". The news was a relief but a bit annoying. I mean, months of tests and NOBODY thought of that? Well, whatever. Back home I went.
But the fun didn't end there. I faced a new problem. The medication I was on to combat the nausea had long term side effects. Side effects I was advised to avoid by getting off the medication ASAP. So I tried to wean myself off. My brain went into withdrawals and, you guessed it, I got sicker then I was before. After a week or two of this I got back on the medication. Gave it three weeks of a low dose then went cold turkey. It worked. I've been clean of the meds for going on 3 months now. Christmas was approaching and I was feeling a little better about everything.
Then one of my housemates declared his intention to move out. Granted, nobody in the house really got on with him well (especially my partner which was causing yet more conflict for me to resolve) but with him moving out we faced a major problem. The bond needed to be repaid. All $1500 of it. At Christmas. Housemate number 3 was basically broke and my partner had just blown through the majority of his savings with his immigration woes (another story for another time) so it was down to me to pay it. Great. Oh, and an inspection of the house got scheduled as well because why not. So I started to scrounge every buck I could. I borrowed from my parents to cover the last little bit and paid the bond. Poof goes the money. It was a very poor Christmas to say the least. The inspection went through last week and we passed with flying colors.
But then work decided to go to pot as well. I won't go into much details (the eyes are always watching) but suffice to say I was at the end of my tether and ready to walk. I got put on stock duty which meant my own tech work got interrupted constantly and I was stuck on the worst desk in the workshop. I. Was. [censored]. I've since had a rather loud discussion with my boss and its basically something i'm going to try and ride out. My partner and I also managed to sort through the last of his immigration problems just this week as well which was a little sunshine for the rainy days.
Anyways, that's the basics. So why the return to BA? I was bored, I missed Longhorn and I needed something to read. So i'll be in and out of BA in the upcoming days and weeks. See if I can get back into beta collection or at least discussion. Maybe inject some wisdom from an expert S.T.A.L.K.E.R if anyone wants it.
tl;dr: I'm back. Hi.
