Did you think that 4015.main didn't have DCE at all?
You were wrong
While testing this build in my Pentium 3 test pc i discovered that this build does have DCE partially implemented

As you could see, the windows are transparent and the sidebar is transparent as well
This build doesn't contain any minimize/close animations but at least we got one piece of the 4015.Lab06 cake
Start:
rundll32 c:\windows\system32\uxdesk.dll,DCEStart
Stop
rundll32 c:\windows\system32\uxdesk.dll,DCEStop
I tested it on a GeForce Ti4200 64MB (DirectX 8) and it worked flawlessly
Then i tested it on a Geforce 4 MX (DirectX 7) and it crashed the whole OS
So unless i'm wrong you need a DirectX 8 card as minimum for the nice and shiny DCE effects
