Well, I decided to start learning some Linux/windows scripting, so I can build a new os based on the original longhorn concept. Well, I decided that I will need some things. An os coder(check) a computer(check) and a server website with FTP access. So I searched eBay for a cheapo server and fell in love with a dell poweredge 2950. I wanted to know if Lu server 2003 4066 can run on that thing. Also, can somebody give me some sometips on sources to tell me on some more os scripting? I have some Visual Basic knowledge if that helps. Please keep this devolpment in secrecy, because I don't want to get shut down.

*I may decide to not develop this os.If this post has been deleted, development has been cancelled*

Link to concept:Coming Soon.

The following is irrelevant. You can read it if you want. It has some valuable info on longhorn and microsoft's probable reasoning on modern windows.

Why am I building this os you ask? Well. Microsoft hit rock bottom with windows 8 and is preparing for the day windows falls. (Don't know why, they already took over a section of Mac OS dev from their lawsuit with apple over windows 2 in the late 80s'.) So, I want to build an os that everybody wants because of the dev reset to vista in '04. Since then, people lost some faith with microsoft. When news broke out over windows 7 development in '07, people started rumors that it will become "longhorn of the future" thus proving my theory that people are still obsessing over longhorn (like me). When windows 8 came out 3 months ago, i noticed several similarities between it and longhorn. For starters, the explorer theme looks like a combination of the plex and slate themes. The x_[] are blocks as in plex and slate. they are also the same colors as the slate. whitish grayand oranish red. Also, they replanted the ribbon, and made it more complex. The taskbar is blue as in plex. Its logon screen follows that of the original longhorn concept, fullscreen, with an enlarged user icon next to the password input, withous a logon box. Microsoft probably put these 8 year old things to shut up all the longhorn obsessors and make money off of them. Unfortunatly, it became unpopular and many people didn't buy it (like me) and microsoft went back to square one. Now, in case you haven't heard yet, there's something called Longhorn Linux.(google image it) Unfortunatly, as you can see, it isn't like winows longhorn at all, because linux has its limits. So, nobody really cared about it. Now as you all have heard, theres lh reloaded. It was all great, untill it stole all of the attention of windows 7. JoeJoe didn't do anything that could cause microsoft to want to close their project down. There still was the issue of activation, and several other things. So, why did ms shut them down? It became the talk of the day, and not of the indev 7. Nobody was going to get 7, but lh reloaded because it suited everybody's wants. So, the day JoeJoe began to release their os, ms sent them that c&d letter. Microsoft made a big mistake of resetting their dev of longhorn, because it changed everybody's thoughts of an os. I don't want this project to become well-known because I don't want to be shut down. I will be releasing a longhorn build 4033 oslh concept to give you all an image of what to expect. When I post this topic, I will be at work. First the oslh concept, then build one. Please restrict the news of this dev to this forum. Don't tell anyone about this os especially those big time news people like cnet.
