Hi,

Sorry if my question is a bit light, but is there a way to reproduce the open/close animation
from LH 5048 on Windows 7? I always found that effect was great , and maybe we can
use it on W7..

Fortunately, VMWare can read the virtual hard disk files virtual box uses.
There's no need to restart ur fest.
Unfortunately VMware does not support .vdi files. Please reference me to where you got that information.

Unfortunately VMware does not support .vdi files. Please reference me to where you got that information.You can export a vm as an appliance in vbox and import in VMware, and you can use vmdk files in vbox when creating a new virtual hd, but vbox's native vdi may not be opened in VMware afaik.

Unfortunately the other manual had a really nasty spine, so it was very difficult to align the pages properly orthogonally.

Please let me know if there are problems with the upload and I will do my best to correct (also sorry beforehand if i cause you to waste your time )

Edit: just out of curiosity, the rules say that "check if an upload already exists" - what if the existing upload is incomplete (missing manuals etc.)? Is there a way to know?

Btw, just to let you know, Starlord is 100% complete with everything included (it was sealed when I got it).

I will continue with the other uploads as soon as I know if this one is ok.

I realize this here thread is ancient history, but...

I have an old whs v1 server that recently suffered a failed motherboard. I've replaced it and done a server re-installation, but now that this OS is so ancient and unsupported I can't get it back to the final version of PP3 and update rollup 2.

I could use some help, particularly if you still have this PP3 update ISO kicking about.

I think it's related to X11, or the graphics card. Debian automatically installs his opensource graphics driver, which is not that optimised. I know that proprietary (as they call it) drivers are available but needed to be manually set up. Only AMD and nVidia are available for now (the last time I've used Ubuntu it was that)

No offense meant to the OP of course. But if it's not broken, don't fix it. I know over at MSFN there's always a raft of errors, annoyances, and broken things every single time the Forum Software gets updated.

Keir, thanks for wanting to help. It's always nice to see people that wants to improve the community and help out in other ways than use up our bandwidth . Personally I think your ideas are interesting, albeit a bit dark and gloomy for our taste. We are looking for a whole new layout (while trying to keep the current design and color scheme for now) with a website and where the forum is just a part of it, and not a central part of the whole. Of course if you still want to help out you are welcome, but remember that many have tried and all have failed in the past. And as Andy pointed out, you're new here and we don't know your background in web design or your interest in BetaArchive. We just need to get to know you better before we can include you in our plans, but that doesn't mean you can't help out. I suggest you continue with your work (for BA or for any other purpose you see fit) and keep us updated. Who knows, you may be on to something as well.

Personally I think however we should try to stick with a CMS of sorts (Wordpress etc) to make it easier to add content and control it all better as we have little time to sit and handcode everything manually endlessly. So if any efforts are to be made towards helping out with a new layout etc it should be in that direction, and not a custom made page where only one person knows how to update it and where there's little to no chance to enhance it with modern features.

Hello,

As a beginning archiver, I was thinking: does this site do collaboration with for example Software Preservation Society and The Internet Archive?

I am asking this because I am curious if files placed in here are replicated upstream into archive.org or vice versa, or if there is some kind of an upstream sharing stream between all these archiving sites.

I know that they have different focuses so not all files should be replicated among sites, so this question kind of applies only to the parts that are relevant to BetaArchive

phpBB for the win? Yeah more like for the win of hackers.
Also: Don't fix what's broken - phpBB 3.0 is pretty broken if you ask me. Also (sorry Andy and mrpijey, no offense to you) the websites Design is god damn outdated, it looks like it's stuck in the Windows Longhorn Development - don't get me wrong, I loved this design somewhat like 7 years ago when BAv2 came out but its a damn long time since then and many things have changed since then. Now we don't have glass borders any more.

So while keeping the basic color scheme, I would suggest to adjust it a bit to fit modern design trends more and then adapt a modern design similar to what the OP has shown. I would for example get rid of the icons at the top or at least try to find icons that fit togther, those look like 7 different icon sets.
