Hello to my Windows 3.1 Defragmenter and DriveSpace 3.

I had a nice discovery.
I copied the Windows ME Defragmenter in Windows 98 SE.
And I started DriveSpace 3 for Windows to compress a FAT 16 partition.
Before Windows 98 is restarted a message is showing that the reboot is prepared.
In this preparation some special hidden folders are created for starting Mini Windows.
Mini Windows a.k.a Windows 3.1 is extracted from Mini.cab which is also used for Windows Setup.

How to use DFRG31:
Copy the DFRG31 folder in "C:\".
Restart the computer and press F5 or SHIFT + F5 to start in the Safe Mode.
Go to "C:\DFRG31"
To execute it run DFRG.BAT or DFRGUNAT.BAT.
DFRGUNAT.BAT is the unattended defragmentation.
With DFRG.BAT you can choose which drive should be defragmented.

How I find out about the switches from the Defragmenter:
http://www.winfaq.de/faq_html/Content/t ... ip0298.htm
Note: The Website is in German. You can use Googe Translate to translate it.

The switches: DEFRAG.EXE /F /P /DETAILED /ALL /NOPRMPT

/F Defragments the free space of the file system.
/P All files except the swap file will be defragmented.
/DETAILED It shows the graphics.
/ALL All non removable hard drives will be optimized.
/NOPROMPT The Defragmenter does not need a confirmation.

==============

Which differnces have the Defragmenter from MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows ME Defragmenter?

The Defragmenter from MS-DOS 6.22 supports only FAT12 and FAT16.

The Windows ME Defragmenter supports FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, Long File Names (LFN), VFAT.
It does support the Protected Mode/Standard Mode/Enhanced Mode, because it runs under Windows 3.1.
